Dato Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from https://dato.mu (the "Site"). Last updated: 7 June 2026.
Personal Information We Collect
When you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information, email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as "Order Information." This information is collected and processed by our payment processor, Stripe, and is used to fulfil your order.
We use a privacy-friendly, self-hosted analytics tool (Umami) to understand how the Site is used. It is cookieless, anonymizes IP addresses, does not track you across other websites, and keeps the data on our own servers — it is never sold or shared. We only record anonymous, aggregated information such as page views, and none of it identifies you personally.
Local Device Storage
Your shopping cart is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device — not in cookies, and it is never transmitted to us until you proceed to checkout. This storage is strictly necessary for the cart to function across pages and between visits. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings or by emptying your cart.
How Do We Use Your Personal Information?
We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfil any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to communicate with you and to provide service during the warranty period of your device (such as technical support and repairs). We use our analytics information to understand and improve how the Site performs.
Sharing Your Personal Information
We share your Personal Information with a small number of trusted service providers only as needed to operate the Site:
- Stripe powers our online checkout and processes your payment and Order Information. You can read more about how Stripe uses your information here: https://stripe.com/privacy.
- Mailchimp (Intuit) handles our email newsletter. If — and only if — you actively submit the newsletter sign-up form in our site footer, your email address is sent to Mailchimp so we can send you updates. You can read Mailchimp's privacy policy here: https://www.intuit.com/privacy/statement/. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email.
- YouTube (Google) hosts product videos that can be embedded on the Site. These videos load as a click-to-play preview: no contact is made with YouTube or Google, and no data is sent to them, until you actively click to play a video. Once you do, YouTube may collect data in accordance with Google's privacy policy: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/.
Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.
Tracking and Global Privacy Control
We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising, and our analytics is cookieless and does not track you across other sites, so in practice there is very little tracking to opt out of. Where legally applicable, we honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser. The older "Do Not Track" standard has been deprecated and is no longer maintained, so we do not rely on it.
Your Rights
If you are a European resident, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to ask that it be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us using the contact information below.
We process your information in order to fulfil contracts we have with you (for example, when you place an order through the Site) and to pursue our legitimate business interests described above (such as understanding how the Site is used and keeping it secure). Please note that some of your information may be transferred outside of the European Economic Area — for example, Stripe processes data in the United States and Ireland, and Mailchimp processes data in the United States — under appropriate safeguards.
Data Retention
When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records, including to meet legal and accounting obligations and to support you during the warranty period, unless and until you ask us to delete this information.
Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
